Hope’s Nose, Torquay (English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark)
Short stretches of free parking laybys on Meadfoot Sea Road, however rather limited and can be busy so car share essential. There is alternative parking at Meadfoot beach carpark (w3w took.vouch.judge) or Kilmorie Car Park (w3w pies.coach.trips) at either end of the beach (both are Ringo or cash £6.10 for 4 hours)
Toilets on arrival next to Meadfoot Beach café (30p, accepts card payment).
The walk of about 7 miles, is a moderate challenge, with some steep ascents/descents and poles recommended with a lot of steps on the final leg. However, there are many benches along the way if anyone needs to rest and the views are worth the climb!
The route follows part of the SW Coast Path passing Thatcher Rock, a protected seabird sanctuary, then Hope Cove and Anstey’s Cove. Lunch at Stoodley Meadow park where there are toilets but you do need to buy a drink at the community café to use them or pay 50p.
We will pass Kents Cavern before proceeding on an attractive urban walk through Torquay down to the Marina where we resume the SW Coast Path (and the steps!) taking in a spectacular view of London Bridge Arch then up onto Daddyhole Plain.
Debrief at the Osborne Hotel where there is an outside bar and seating area in the gardens.
