Meet for train travel at Plymouth Railway Station at 8.50
Train from Plymouth Railway Station at 09:03. There is unrestricted parking in the roads around the railway station on Sundays - we recommend Glen Park Avenue (eg W3W: ///sleep.crunch.loud). We'll travel on the lovely Tamar Line to Bere Alston. We can get a group fare on the train which will be covered by the club. (Anyone wishing to meet us at Bere Alston please be ready to start the walk at the station at 09:30.)
Walk distance: 8 miles
The walk follows the Tamar River south through the Tamar Valley AONB with some lovely views if the weather allows. Terrain is mostly fields, lanes and woods, some hills, some board walks, some stiles. Following recent storms there are some trees down across paths which mean that unless they have been cleared we may have to scramble over or under these. There are a few sections which are very wet and muddy underfoot and can be very slippery in places.
We will finish in Bere Ferrers where we will board the14:36 back to Plymouth. (For those joining us at Bere Alston there is a 15:39 train which takes you back there from Bere Ferrers.)
Due to the conditions waterproof boots are essential, gaiters and poles highly recommended
We hope that hornet season has passed and that this time the walk may be less eventful than last...
