An 8 mile open moorland walk taking in Brat Tor, Great Links Tor and Great Nodden in a section of moor bordering the firing range. 

Meet in the gated car park at the top of the gravel track found immediately after The Dartmoor Inn on A386 and opposite the road to Lydford when travelling north from Mary Tavy. Drive slowly up the track as there are few pot holes and remember to close the gate. 

The first half involves a range of terrain and a stream crossing via stones and gaining 300m uphill to the tors. The second half is along a gravel track across easy moorland and is generally a gentle downhill return to the car park.

Weather permitting there are great views for much of the walk. Dogs on leads as there is livestock along most of the route. There is some spongy wet ground so full walking boots recommended.

Note, as this is an open moorland walk with little shelter from the weather so if conditions on the day are poor we’ll meet at the same start point before a quick relocation down into Lydford for an alternative 7.5 mile route better suited to the weather conditions.
