The walk starts on the SW Coast Path then moves inland, mainly on paths through woodland, culminating in Hooe lake which has some historical links to Francis Drake.

The walk starts by climbing up the coast path with a fair few steps. The walk from Bovisand is up a gradual incline  - Staddiscombe way could be muddy in October. Hooe Lake area is on paths and there is a short bit of road on way back. Approximately 6.5 miles.

Dogs welcome though the coastal path is narrow in parts so may need to be on a lead for a time.
