Minions, Bodmin Moor

An exploration of the archaeology of this area on the southeast edge of Bodmin Moor, from neolithic hill forts to Victorian tin mines. This walk starts at the car park in Minions village. During our walk of approximately 6 miles, we’ll visit the New Phoenix Mine, Tregarrick Tor hill fort, Craddock Moor stone row and hut circles, Stowe’s Pound and the Hurlers stone circles. This is an open moor walk so there is no shelter from sun or rain. There are some climbs, some boggy areas which we will skirt around as far as possible, and lots of sheep and bracken. Please therefore come prepared; dogs welcome but will need to be on leads for the majority of the walk. We will be rewarded by fantastic views, a rich history and some dubious legends…

Debrief at Minions Shop & Tearoom – hot and cold drinks, alcoholic beverages and most importantly lots of cake available.

Meet at the large, free car park in Minions village for 10:00 start. Car Share from Ivybridge P&R at 08:45. Walk starts at 10:00. Toilets are available at the start of the walk.
